Spare some change?
I was looking forward to trying this game. It's an important piece of videogame history and at first I liked it, the combat mechanics are fun.

But almost immediately after I started playing I felt that something was off about the AI opponents and the difficulty. Something beyond just me playing terribly. Simply put, the game is cheating.

Win a fight or two in a row and the enemies get nearly impossible to defeat. It gets to the point when they're performing perfect counter attacks the exact moment you finish your input. There's no defence against it.

Then, after you lose and spend your 'life' (or a coin rather), the same enemy on the same stage gets easy to defeat. You paid your toll and you can continue the game. But the same thing happens again and again. I realized that the game is just trying to trick me to put more coins into the arcade machine. I got really frustrated when I couldn't find a coin slot on my PC, guess they forgot to install it.

This is worse than the usual bad port to PC. It's cheap and unfair. I think this practice was bad even at the arcades back in the past, it just leaves bad taste in my mouth the same way microtransactions do in modern games.

I would still recommend you to play the game. But only if you have some friends to play against.
