*Warning: spoilers* Great expansion for the main game.
I liked the expansion Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna. It offers a fair bit of extra story, playtime, and lore, while offering some innovations and a completely new biome and atmosphere.

In Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna, you start close to the town of Arhok, where you help the mayor fix his little monster problem in the nearby supply caves of the town. On your way to the cave, you meet a survivor of the attack on the supply caves, who tells you that the Staff of Stars has been stolen. This staff, in the wrong hands, could mean the end of all of Arlanna. You venture to an underground castle, kill the Lost Queen boss, and learn that the enemy behind this evil plot is the so-called Shadowjumper.

You need to track down this Shadowjumper and learn that he might be on the island of Utraea. You go there, meet a new civilization and learn that the Utraen use a big device called the Great Clock, to control the weather in their area, needed to grow their crops and livestock. With the clock however, they accidentally released the Shadowjumper from whatever realm he was bound in, and he almost killed the entire population of Utraea. Their only option of survival was to steal and use the Staff of Stars, to imprison the Shadowjumper again.

But because the clock has been broken in the meantime, it needs to be fixed first to ensure the people are safe. A Goblin King from the Kingdom of Ehb agreed to fix the clock, but he disappeared while on his way to the clock. You follow the path and climb your way up to the Great Clock. You see the Goblin King dead and the clock spinning. Four Guardians of the Clock try to stop you, thinking you want to release the Shadowjumper. You beat them and force the Shadowjumper out of hiding. Glorious battle follows and you defeat the Shadowjumper. You saved the day and are proclaimed the new hero of Arlanna, Ultraea and Arhok.

The expansion offers two new enemy types, the Zaurasks and the Hassats. These are reptile and cat like humanoids, who fight furiously and are a real pain in the ass.

Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna offers a lot more items, spells and equipment, and now also includes Set items. When all pieces of the set are collected, a big bonus can be earned. When starting the game, you can now also play as a Half-Giant, or as a Ultraean. It also introduced a new pet/pack mule. This time however, it is some kind of dinnosaur beast, which resembles the Tauntaun from Star Wars.

Lastly, the expansion now supports special mods, called Siegelets. It is cool, but for just an expansion, I think it is a little overkill.

Graphically, the game looks the same as the original game, but because of the new monsters and Jungle biome, it somehow looks slightly better.

I really liked the new piece of story, the extra lore and the new enemies in this expansion and I still think this is how you make DLC. Decent playtime, some innovations and overall, just a little extra fun besides the main game.

Definitely recommend this expansion.
