A great storytelling experience
I played this game because it's a highly rated game from 1998. Not many old games (I mean, really old) are worth to play those days, I really wanted to try it.
Sanitarium is the story of a man who wake up in the middle of a chaos, trapped with mad people in a strange tower. You don't even remember your name and you have to discover what's going on. You must investigate the levels and talk with people in order to clear up the mystery.
This is a point-and-click adventure (similar to The secret of Monkey Island or Sam and Max: Hit the road, but darker themed). The scenarios are full of items, people, creatures and intractable things. The isometric perspective is quite good and the items are usually well highlighted to find them, the control is intuitive and smooth.
What I love most of this game is the story telling and the exhibition of imagination, combining surreal things with the true events. It matches the story perfect and eventually you can't barely tell apart what the truth.
I really recommend this game. If you don't know if you'd like it I recommend you to search a YouTube walkthrough. The game is a cinematic experience at some point, you can enjoy it that way instead of playing.
