Metaphor: Refantazio was truly a game that shattered all my expectations. I kept thinking, “Surely, there won’t be any more surprises,” yet until the very last minute, the game continued to shock and amaze me.
The storyline, combined with the artistic direction, makes it a top contender for Game of the Year. In 2024, no other game even comes close to matching it in these aspects. But what truly stood out was how much the game made you care about every single character—whether they were side characters, main protagonists, or even antagonists— all of them were perfectly written and had depth that pulled you in emotionally.
The gameplay is an exceptional mix of strategy and depth, though it does have a steep customization curve, meaning you, as the player, must take full control of your strategy. This isn’t just a game—it’s, as they say in Arabic, a true artistic masterpiece that must be experienced. Even after finishing, I hesitated to wrap it up completely because I knew I could never relive that first-time experience again.
