Hack 'n Slash
The useless ally CPUs are frustrating. (Think Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada: "Details of your incompetence do not interest me.") But at the same time, it is the doormat enemy foot soldiers and your character's ability to annihilate swathes of them at a time that allow for hefty catharsis. I appreciate the inclusion of multiple difficulties. While not for me, the DLC seems great for hardcore Zelda fans. I've read reviews calling Hyrule Warriors "mindless." I guess you could say that comparing it to a traditional Zelda game, but it isn't a traditional Zelda game. The pressure to get to the next keep and figure out how to get to that location that seems so close on the map, the need to double back and make critical decisions: should I continue to the main boss even though a keep fell, or is it important enough that I should return and potentially sacrifice important time and resources? From that perspective, I wouldn't write off Hyrule Warriors as mindless button mashing, even if there is some (fun) button mashing to clear out a hoard of minions.
