Weird but hilarious game that is fun at parties
Mount your Friends is a hilarious and surprisingly fun game to play with your friends.
It has a very simple concept. Build a tower of ripped dudes by climbing up each other and reach for the stars. The goal is to become the player that reaches the highest point in the dude tower before the time runs out. In the beginning, this is easy, just climb two or three other guys, but when the tower gets larger, it is a literal race to the top.
You snap one, or all of your limbs to another bro in the stack and try to reach high enough to surpass the maximum height of your opponent(s).
You control each hand and feet individually with separate controls, making it ridiculously hard to coordinate your movement and the right path to climb. Especially later on in the game when you have no time for errors. This is the whole charm of the game and watching each other struggle to progress upwards is just hilarious to see, especially with the blend and lifeless expressions on the faces of all the beef sticks that are already mended into the pile.
The graphics are 2D and feature complete ragdoll, making the animations smooth as butter. They are fun to look at but represents nothing too special.
The sound and music in Mount Your Friends consists of the snapping sounds of limbs that you grab and calm ambient music while you struggle to reach the top of the men pile. It is the calmest and weirdest background music I heard so far.
You can play locally with four players, making Mount Your Friends an excellent party game. I really enjoyed this gem when playing with my friends and never laughed so hard first time playing it.
Besides the standard climb mode, you can also play some sort of battle, in which a sword is strapped on your head, and you need to fling yourself towards the other player, hitting him with the sword.
There is also a rock climbing mode in which you need to get as far as you are able. You need to keep track of where your limbs are on the horizontal rock wall and progress one limb at a time or else you drop to your death.
Lastly, there is some kind of capture the flag mode in which you need to reach a crown first before the other player does. You got some ledges and platforms to attach to in order to reach this goal.
So despite its simplicity, Mount Your Friends offers enough content to keep you play for hours, especially in company of friends. It features excellent support for almost any controller, responds fluently and overall, plays great.
I enjoyed this game very much and would recommend it to everyone.
