You love it or you don't.
Type-0 is a personal favorite of mine, and while the HD release could look a bit better (looking at you, PS2-looking NPCs), it's a pretty good port. The biggest complaint I've seen is the motion blur, which got patched.
The combat isn't at all like the traditional turned-based system, but that's good news if you like to run around and beat up your enemies. The are fourteen unique characters to play as throughout the game, so go crazy.
The music is phenomenal, straight up. The story can get a bit confusing, but reading the unlockable in-game texts helps. To grasp everything, I recommend three playthroughs. It's not that long of a game, but the lore is pretty dang juicy.
Tl;dr Not perfect but fun, great music, play with Japanese audio if you love yourself, NPC dialogue is golden, be prepared for some feelings.
